The Bruce Grant Memorial Youth Trust

The trusts purpose is to raise funds to assist or promote the youth of the Wakatipu basin to undertake sports, arts or cultural activities, in which they excel or show a particular interest. This can range from aspirations as simple as learning a musical instrument or taking art lessons to those trying to attain entry to international competition at the highest level. All people aged 24 and under who live in the Wakatipu basin are eligible to apply.

Many of the founding trustees are still involved. The full list of Trustees is Andy Brinsley (chair), Alison Beaumont, Craig (Ferg) Ferguson, Evan Bloomfield, Christine Grant, Alexa Forbes and Chris Duffy.

Funding sources in the past have included an annual ball, donations from the community including through the community diversion scheme administered by Queenstown Police and received a substantial boost in 2003 through the Bayley’s Real Estate National Conference.

Looking towards the next 10 years, the Trust's goal is to build the capital base so that there is a sound platform for sustainable distribution. The Trust is actively pursuing avenues to achieve this so that its endeavours may be of greater benefit to the talented and aspiring youth of the Wakatipu.
